The Stranger

The Stranger

The man stared at me

Right into my eyes

Saying…you are smiling

I wanna know why

I look shocked and amazed

Did something happen today

He said, no, but why

Must you smile in this way

Why is your glass half full

Your cup running over its rim

Claiming life is so bright

When we both know it is grim

He was obviously angry

His jaw clinched tight

I offered him some water

Sir, are you alright?

Yes, I’m fine he stated

I’m just sick of this chatter

About love and peace

None of that even matters

I looked into his angry face

His eyes seemed so sad

His journey seemed so long

A hard life he had

I gently touched his hand

Squeezing ever so slight

I don’t know what happened sir

But everything will be alright

He looked at me half witted

You know nothing about me

No, but I can feel your pain

It’s easy to see

Anytime we hold on to anger

With such force

It’s due to great pain

I don’t know you of course

But I have a grandfather

And I would pray every day

That if someone saw him

In pain this way

They would softly remind him

How blessed the world has been

To have the benefit of his life

Which makes us all win

The mans eyes grew teary

Saying his load had grown tiring

I smiled and said yes, I know

All the while love was transpiring

I reminded him that even I

Was touched by his being

It wasn’t about my smile

Or the song I was singing

God sent me to you sir

For I know on this day

You needed an angel

Saying everything is okay

He squeezed my hand back

A weight lifted off of him

The sadness disappeared

He started to grin

I never knew what happened

To cause his sadness and tears

But I became filled with divine love

As I watched it disappear

This day I was reminded of what

I was selected to do

To constantly show strangers

God loves them too

The Lesson of Hope

The Lesson of Hope

What are the lessons I am teaching

While hanging on the end of your rope?

With God all things are possible

For He provides replenishing hope

Don’t feed the internal wolf

Of negativity and despair

For since the beginning of the beginning

It has always been there

But remember my loved ones

Even whilst dangling from a thread

We are holding on to the Truth

We were molded from instead

Hope can seem out of fashion

Can seem out of date

But it’s the age old Truth

It is never too late

Never too late to love one another

Never too late to make amends

Never too late to embrace an enemy

Making a place for new friends

I give you hope on these visits

For it is my destiny

To reopen your beautiful hearts

To the possibility

Life can run you over

It can shatter your dreams

Can make God more like a myth

Or so it may seem

But adversity is not an enemy

It actually can deter

The evils sent to destroy us

Make us weaker…as it were

Problems make us seek direction

Seeking solutions we didn’t see

Showing us the beauty of God

How He created humanity

Yes, I know we can feel broken

Deserted…with every issue thrown

But no matter what we may think

We are not alone

Hope is a reminder

Of all which we’ve been given

With God as our compass

Doesn’t matter where we were driven

All roads lead to home

The pathway is lit with God’s love

For home isn’t a house

But His mansion far above

So the lesson again is hope

Please never let it escape you

For I will need you to pass it on

To someone who needs it too

Until next time beloveds

I wish your hearts much ease

Go with God’s abundant blessings

And His eternal peace

Diamond In The Rough

Diamond In The Rough

There are angels among us

I wanted you to know

They are the feeling saying stop

When we only want to go

It’s the pang of conscience

Urging to do what’s right

It’s the reminder of the day

When we want to hide at night

It’s the proof that we are loved

Even if it’s not what we perceive

It’s God’s love saying…stay

When all we want to do is leave

Have you ever been so angry

Never wanting to ask why

The evils of men stopped

By an innocent baby’s cry

Once I heard a story

Two elderly women being robbed

They told him to take what he wants

Saying…you are loved by God

The man stopped in his tracks

He simply dropped his head

Laid down what he had stolen

Out the door he fled

For those women were his angels

Saying take what you may

But when you leave go with God

What a loving thing to say

We should remind each other often

How we are loved by Him

Loved no matter what we do

It’s who we are within

That man could not do the evil

He started out to do that day

Because those angels he met

God set in his way

If we all just took a moment

Just a passing glance

We would see God’s signs around us

Wouldn’t need a second chance

SO today before you speak

Listen and watch for your sign

Because God wants your eternal life

TO be one that is divine

I will tell you right now

I love you because you are

It is as clear as God’s light

Bright as a shining star

I love each and every one

Of God’s creations for all time

If we hold on to that thought

It’s the greatest treasure we can find

SO the lesson for tonight is simple

Ask for nothing you cannot sow

Cultivate God’s love

And watch your bounty grow

Hard times will fall upon us

Times they will make it tough

Remember you are simply

God’s diamond in the rough

You Will Always Have Me

You Will Always Have Me

God is good…

I know this is true

For through all the storms

He was saving me for you

He guided me toward shelter

My umbrella from the storm

He held me safe throughout the night

Until daylight was reborn

He calmed my internal war

Where hope was harder to find

He soothed my heart

By gently easing my mind

He helped me rise to every occasion

Armed me with the Truth

Warding off the evils of man

No way I could lose

Although there were times

My faith was tested to an extreme

I knew it was only a part

Of what was planned for me

I fell many times but

I always got back up

Even in lonely times

I always had His love

I know God is good because

I am here today with you

Relaying His message of love

And the great things it can do

For even while I felt broken hearted

When people let me down

He took the pain away

He wore it like a crown

So because He has been so good

An active part of my every day

I wanted to take a moment

To tell you in this way

The beauty of creation

Can’t be found in a perfect scene

But found in the love of God

And all that it means

For every breath of my life

Every break of dawn

Is further proof that

Hate is wrong

For nothing ever grew from

Taking sunshine away

But we can move mountains

Tell it to get out of your way

Find love and give it often

Watch your planted seed grow

And the experience of it all

Will begin to slowly show

For the Grace of our God

With His goodness and light

Will arm you with all weapons you need

To win this fight

So tonight I give you my umbrella

My shelter in the rain

May God provide and protect you

From evil and dismay

And if evil sneaks in now

It is still as it should be

For we will always have God

And you will always have me

I Do Pray

I Do Pray

I watched your eyes today

Closely on the screen

I saw a child that we lost

I understand what that means

I wonder if we needed

To see your innocent look

So we could justify the anger

Over a life someone took

Did we need you to be a choir boy

Instead of a kid running the streets

Oh the implications we make

Of people we never meet

If you were in a gang war

Would your loss seem easier to us

Did we need to see your innocence

In order to justify the fuss

Did we need to make him look

Evil…a perpetrator as it were

So we could see him as vile

We could all seem more sure

But alas, we may never know

Who either were at that time

Only that a life was taken

It definitely was a crime

A crime against humanity

A crime against the truth

An altercation once again

Has stolen another youth

As for my part in this

I will sing the very same song

We have created nothing

And killing is always wrong

We can not justify the reasons

Or clarify the cause

If only we had taken a moment

To take a breath…to briefly pause

The world might not have swallowed

Another child this way

A funeral…a memorial

Lets bow our heads to pray

Father please forgive us for thinking

Any reason would be okay

To take a child’s last breath

Leaving a country in dismay

We have stopped looking for our Savior

No matter what the case

We have made it about hatred

We have made it about race

We failed to listen to your lessons

Love your fellow man

Be forgiving of your neighbors

As often as you can

And as a final result of this

Another young man makes no sound

Only the sobbing of a mother

Putting him in the ground

Forgive us Heavenly Father

We know not what we do

We were so busy playing God

We failed to look to you

Help us heal past the heartache

Show us the err of our way

So we can do better tomorrow

On my knees I do pray

God Will Speak Through You

When we seek peace

It’s not just of the mind

It’s all that is around us

…every proof of life we find

It’s the unimagined truth

Which balances us all

It’s the force which holds us steady

Or we will surely fall

Peace is not found in silence

…our biting of our tongue

Its found in lovers debating

…in the cries of the very young

It’s clearing the air so to speak

…in a time of despair

It’s showing love in all ways

…it’s how we know we care

It can be found in disagreement

…as well as in our smiles

For silence can still breed unrest

Which spans across the miles

Controversy can be peaceful

It can begin to clear the air

It can help us mend bridges

When we treat other beings fair

It isn’t about falsely agreeing

Nodding as if we do agree

But about loving enough to listen

Wanting each other to see

For God fully expects

The trials we will obtain

Knowing if we follow His love

We will live to argue again

Search for peace always I say

It’s important to our destination

But never discount the love of God

In spite of our aggravation

Let God live through your words

Let your actions be always true

And peace will thrive again

As God will speak through you

Our Spiritual Seed

Our Spiritual Seed

The existence of God

How I know He is real

Is found not in a book

But in how I love…how I feel

I hardly need directions

To my hearts’ known path

When He is my compass

There’s no need for a map

I have no need to question

The reason for our being

When all is as it should be

No need for earthly things

It is only when our focus

Falls away from the TRUTH

That we question faith

Our divine views

For as steady as the wind blows

As sure as the sun will set

God will guide us down our path

Hasn’t failed to do so yet

And although we may not see

Or understand the reason why

The picture just isn’t clear yet

But in time we can’t deny

All things have their purpose

And all seasons have their time

You will have your path

And I,of course will have mine

Question His existence…not I

For as I live and breathe

I understand the miracle of life

It’s happened to me

When all reason and logic

Says this could not should not be

I point my finger to Heaven

Nodding assuredly

He creates mighty ocean waves

In fact created the very first drop

Created day created night

I need nothing He is not

Where is the proof of His life

It’s in every gasp of air

It’s in all things breathing

But He didn’t stop there

He thought into light

Each and every little thing

Made us dependant on one another

Do you know what that means

It means we are a full circle

It all comes back around to us

Leaving me to never wonder why

It’s in GOD we trust

I will leave you with one thought

At the end of every day

When we  are tired and lost

Why do we bother to pray

We pray because deep inside

Behind our earthly doubts

Is the TRUTH we were born with

Nothing happens…it is allowed

We may become disheartened

About the things we think we need

But He answered our prayers

When He  planted our spiritual seed

God’s Holy Light

God’s Holy Light

Do you think my eyes tell you?

All there really is to know

Do you make assumptions about my life?

Before first asking me so?

What means of measure do we use

To decide a persons value in our eyes

And if my hair color comes from a box

What am I trying to disguise

If I do not disclose my true weight

Does that mean that my soul is more lean

Or perhaps our judgment system

Has just become a little bit obscene

If I am homeless…heated only by a fire

Burning in an open can

Does that make you better than me?

Or make me less of a man

Or perhaps you think your bank account

Will make your words have weight

And perhaps…even you…

Believe the lies that you create

For you see within my soul

Lives the story of God untold

And that cannot be purchased

With any diamonds or gold

The monetary value we place on life

Will guarantee us nothing but a mirage

After all we can’t get to heaven

By driving what’s parked in the garage

Your new hairstyle…while very cute

Does not pay homage to our King

Neither does thinking that

You are better than anyone or anything

The color of my hair and eyes

Do not tell you what you need to know

Anymore than watering a plant with sand

Will encourage the seedling to grow

Ask me about my Lord and

The promises to Him I keep

Then you won’t guess but know

That my love…it runs deep

Ask me about my path and how

I face adversity when it comes

I will tell you…with my faith in God

My feet firmly planted…facing toward the sun

I challenge anyone…anything

And when it’s given all it’s got

I will tell that mountain to get out of my way

Because the love of God…I’ve got

When we challenge the value of anyone

We are challenging God and all His glory

And the wrath of God is steep

You know…you’ve read all the stories

So I’m saying to you be cautious

And when you talk of others be bright

Because you must look beneath the layers

To see people with God’s Holy Light

The Face of God

The Face of God

The thing about God’s light

It can show up in an unexpected place

A flower growing out of a sidewalk

Or in the innocence of a child’s face

It can show up out of nowhere

Like in the breaking dawn

You hear it in the chirp of birds

Or the first steps of a fawn

You can hear Our Creators light

In the laughter of a child

It’s His way of reminding us

That life is certainly worthwhile

I have heard God’s light

In my sorrow…yes even in my grief

It steals away my sadness

Like a most welcome thief

It’s His way of showing us

That we are never alone

By giving us the proof of life

And how it does go on

What love a father shows

When He wipes aside a tear

And warms us without a single touch

But the knowledge he is near

He shows the balance of His love

Because even in the heart break of death

He reminds us life goes on

As we watch a newborn take the first breath

It’s hard to remain bitter

When the most beautiful sounds

Can be experienced flying over head

Or walking all around

Have you ever sat on a park bench

And just listened to children play

Not worrying what tomorrow brings

Living only for today

I believe this is the true message

That only love of God can bring

He who has the gentleness of a lamb

The royalty of Our King

So when the day gets heavy

As we all know that it can

Smile at the adversity

Relying on the word of no man

I tell you love each other often

I say smiling with a nod

Because when you love one another

You are loving the face of God

Reach For The Stars

Reach For the Stars

You will bear your cross

And I, of course, will bear mine

But the first step is the hardest

To reaching the finish line

We are faced with

Uncharted journeys with uncertainty

But once we start the trip

There are endless possibilities

We must first acknowledge

That life sometimes doesn’t seem fair

Then we must hand it to our Father

And trust Him to be there

It can be hard to let go

Of the solutions we have devised

But do so we must

For He is all knowing…most wise

Our crosses can get heavy

Like carrying the world on our back

But the lessons they will teach are endless

And this is a fact

While some lessons are harder

And some seem to just bring pain

Once we take a step back

We can absorb the love which remains

We will deal with abuse from loved ones

And illness which seems to not end

But as I mentioned before

You are not broken…and its okay to bend

Bending is a way which we learn

To adjust our perception of life

How we learn that we are stronger

In our hearts and our minds

We were not broken at all

And although battered and bruised

We are the victor after all

With Him there is no way to lose

Move forward with this knowledge

Every success was once a dream

Know that no eagle takes flight

Before spreading his wings

Release the anxiety and anger

Which darkness can breed

Knowing God loves you

And that’s all that you need

He will place angels at your feet

Who will help repair your heart

And while the unknown is scary

You won’t know until you start

Take my hand if you need it

I’ve been where you are

Hold your head high

And reach for the stars
