Not Me

Not Me

One day things will be different

She rang in reverie

What step will you take

Ohhh. I didn’t mean me

One day we won’t kill

For fun or economy

When will you tell them

I wasn’t talking about me

One day we will love each other

End abuse and slavery

The step is always hardest

But I’m not talking about me

A voice started to bellow

If not you than who…she began to stir

If not now then when

Another  should start?….That is absurd

You are the hope

Your heart will lead them home

It is your single voice

Your intention will roam

If not you the voice restated

Than why are you here

Be the voice of mankind

Be the start of a new year

Be love by showing love

Shine your inner shining light

Your voice can claim victory

While shining HOPE…all night

End the wars and its hate

Do not accept a reason

For Joy is a way of life

Not a Holiday season

The Bright Side

The Bright Side

Life can sometimes spiral out of control. We can feel as if we are lost or even as if we may not want to be found. We may feel alone or isolated…wondering who would even notice if we just dropped off the face of the earth. These sentiments are what make this topic pertinent. We are all important, our lives are essential in some plan that God has for us. Just like when we speak of the importance of animals and the chain or circle of life…we, too, are critical parts; in the grander scheme of things. Something as minor as a smile to a stranger…may change the course or energy of a day. A kind word or gesture could turn war time into a moment of peace.

What is the bright side of a life which appears to have no particular meaning? Well, we woke up today. We lifted our heads…and because we were willed to do so…the work God has lain out for us has begun. The bright side is the fact that today…unlike some…you received the gift of another moment…another opportunity to do the work of our Creator. Today we can hold our heads up and move forward. We get to choose whether we live or simply exist; while keeping in mind that we are the example that others are turning to. People don’t want us to tell them what to do…but they are open to observing those thoughts in action. We are responsible for all of our deeds…large and small…good and bad. We can impress or depress people…we have the luxury of choosing the path we walk.

Look on the bright side…today is a new day…and the way we view it may help or hinder someone else. Things happen in life, some of these things may seem like they have broken us…left us in pieces. I think we have all felt this way…one time or another. But the actual truth is…we were not broken, shattered, crushed, or defeated. We were simply temporarily impaired…stunned…surprised…startled and dismayed. And here we are…not only present and accounted for but looking on the bright side of life. We have simply evolved into another part of who we were intended to be. We may feel sad at times due to a change or loss in our lives; and while I am not trying to take away from that very real feeling…I am going to tell you that hope always exists.

You get to decide the energy that you will emit on others…just as I do. And yes, we will sometimes falter. It is okay to stumble on the building blocks of life…as long as we understand that they are just blocks…and not giant walls with no means of escape. You have to remember to pick yourself up and press on…eyes are watching you. If you have hope…someone else will be able to feed off of it…and they will be able to give hope to others, as well. Use the foundation that we were created with…love…peace….understanding and kindness; these are the elements of success and hope.

Life is a gift. It regenerates, rejuvenates and revitalizes our souls. It is okay to have rough days…but understand that…better days will follow. No one expects perfection, but we do expect, desire, and need your word that you will constantly strive for more.

Our lives contribute to the ever populating circle of love…and the bright side of that concept is that love always comes back ten fold. Love is more like the boomerang of God…no matter where you toss it…God will make sure it finds you again. Contribute to the lives of others…remember they too are looking for a bright side…be that for them. Other people have the same insecurities, anxieties, and hesitations that you may have…lend them your shoulder and in doing so…open your heart.

The possibilities of life are endless…unless we stop trying. Do not be your own road block…expect the impossible…because with the divine love of our Creator…all things are attainable. There is no goal or idea which is too much for our Creator…we simply need to ask and be prepared to receive it. Look at the bright side…no matter how dire a situation seems…this too shall pass…and the lesson in the struggle may feed the hopes and aspirations of others.

Dear World

Dear World,

You may be wondering why I am writing you right now…I understand. But the truth is; I have been watching you…and my eyes fill with tears. I have watched your triumphs; where you will pull together as people and embrace one another, as a family should. I have watched you fight for the survival of a species of animal that was crying out for your love and attention. I have seen you go to the aide of those affected by a natural disaster; during these times I have been extremely proud of you.

I have seen you at your worst; when you thought no one was watching. I have seen you steal from one another; even if you are only stealing time. I have watched as you erected huge walls and fences to keep one another out. I have watched you remove one another from the lands that you live in, out of some false sense of ownership. I have watched you hang your brothers and sisters, because you found offense in the color of their skin. I have seen you burn Holy Books out of some need to control one another. You have let money turn you against one another; it brings out the very worst in your character.

So I wanted to take a moment today and reach out to you. I want to remind you of some core truths; and once I deliver them to you…hold onto them.

You have a very complex soul. It’s beautiful, but obviously it has been tested. I feel pain and such love in you. You know, we often have to deal with life altering events; some of us don’t do so well. Basically we have to do our very best; and move on. Your heart is full and when the time is just right; you are going to be able to share it with the world. Don’t let anyone convince you to dim your light…it is there to guide you and others who will follow you. Believe me, they will follow you. Make sure your words are true, but responsible. Speak with a giving tone and know that you can create a better place for your fellow man…starting with a smile.

Love with your whole heart; love is never a mistake. And if love doesn’t turn out to be what you thought it would be…embrace it for what it is and appreciate the experience. I promise you, with my whole heart, loving anyone is never a mistake. There are times, of course, when we must walk away from relationships; but do not confuse the pain of a separation for a pain from love. Love never hurts…it is only walking away from love that causes us pain.

Give people hope. It’s okay to be upset or frustrated…but please do not take the hopes of man, while you are doing it. Give assurance, be positive. Smile and spread sunshine…wherever you may go.

It is okay to grieve…it is a celebration of life. But do not dwell in your grief; mourning a loved one is just further acknowledgement of how wonderful they were to you. The love and care our loved ones gave us on earth…multiplies in the hereafter…surrounding us constantly. So don’t feel bad about letting a tear fall; as long as you cushion it with laughter and wonderful memories.

Listen to your heart, and let it converse with your soul…it keeps you safe. Fight the good fight…and that means to simply defend those who cannot defend themselves…not necessarily with violence. Use your words…make a stand…demand a change. And keep on demanding until the world gets so sick of you that they change. The first step is the hardest…but people will follow. Everyone is looking for THAT HERO…the one who stood up when everyone else was sitting down.

With Love,

Greater Things

Greater Things

We were given two orders of business

Seemed simple and refined

One to love everyone and everything

The other…to always be kind

Seems simple enough to do

Not a hard thing to even ask

But why do we constantly fail

To follow through with our true task

How can we fail to give love

It’s our calling…our duty

Letting go of our pride

Focus on Our God’s beauty

We must let go of all else

For else is an ego trip

Don’t fall into the trap

Don’t miss your proverbial ship

Reach out to others

For kindness is a need

For within the heart of man

A lost soul will be freed

Be loving and be kind

It’s the only rule of thumb

It will be the beginning

Of the greater things to come

To the girl who smiled
Behind so much pain
Who just disappeared
Never to be seen again

To the little boy
Not tough enough
Who was taught a lesson
About how to be rough

To the woman who cries
At the drop of a hat
That others ridicule
Never want to be that

To the man who found
Strength in being him
Who was killed for nothing
Another’s evil whim

I want to apologize to you
For we let you slip past
Your lessons were overlooked
We really aren’t so vast

We should have taken time
To simply ask why
Such an easy thing to say
There’s no need to cry

And if you are crying because
Someone let you down
We should have dried your tears
Maybe then you would have found

A reason to stay here
A reason to not go away
A reason to hold your head up
A better reason to stay

It should be so easy
To just be me
Yet we’re met with such

We pretend ourselves away
Hiding deep within our faults
They always knew who they were
Maybe it is us who was lost

Why not ask that girl whose smile
Seems to look right through
Everyone she sees
Her smile never seems to move

Why didn’t we call it what it was
Pain so brutal and raw
She hides what she has seen
And has seen it all

To the soft little boy
Just being a kid
Got beat on for nothing
Call it what it is

Bullying and no less
A reason to be mean
We allowed it to happen
More cruel intentions unseen

The sweet woman who cried
How dare we make fun
Adding further isolation
To a battle never to be won

How dare we judge her
For feeling pain so deep
She’s sharing the world’s pain
The secrets her heart keeps

As for the man being honest
About his true being
We’ve seen people telling lies
About much smaller things

Yet we kill his body
Because he won’t deny his soul
He has more strength in his finger
Than our bodies will ever know

Shame on us all
For saying such things
This is what evil does
Makes us become lesser beings

So when it’s your time to list
All the good you have done
When you feel defeated
Remember you could have won

We could have stood up tall
Could have held another up
Might have made a difference
Said…enough is enough

So the next time you watch another
Screaming I just want to be me
Remember who you are and practice

The Forgiveness Fallacy

The Forgiveness Fallacy

We have all probably been in this situation, at one time or another. Some one has done something; and we have found ourselves offended, by what was said or done. Not to say that the action was about us at all; but perhaps in our minds; we felt that it was.

In any regard, the person or persons is seeking forgiveness. When giving this word much thought; I decided that I would describe it the best way that I could. My only REAL hope being; I hope that by the end of my explanation, I would be able to show the connection between all things.

Some will say, and I must agree, forgiveness comes only through Our Creator. This is what we will call divine forgiveness. This forgiveness, or not; is only given at the end of one’s life.  The true judge of our lives will not be, by one another, but through Our Creator. It is at this moment when all of our actions are judged, not just one. This is another reason why we will hear people say that “it is not my place to judge”. Again, I must agree.

We are not in a position to judge another person; however we can make a clear concise decision, as to whether or not the dynamics of the relationship should change.

Why is forgiveness so difficult for most of us? To some, I would dare say, forgiveness means that what was done to us…is okay, acceptable. This is, perhaps, where the difficulty comes from. Forgiving someone does NOT mean that that their action was acceptable, quite the opposite. If their action was acceptable, there would be no need or desire to seek forgiveness.

I read that the Greek translation of forgiveness was “to exhale”. While I found nothing to substantiate that definition, I can understand where it came from.

The largest mistake that I think we make, as human beings, is to think that forgiveness is for others. True; we did not offend ourselves. A larger truth, however, is that we only hurt ourselves when holding on to the offense. The offense, itself, will become life like…and it isn’t. We forgive, because we feel bad on the inside…we want to move forward. Our blood pressure may sky rocket, our blood sugar level may increase, or decrease, we may become physically impaired; all of this because we are not only holding on to the act, but the anger associated with it. So the Greek explanation; seemed honest…we get to exhale. Have you ever held your breath as a child? When you exhaled and took that fresh breath…your entire being seemed refreshed. Forgiveness is very similar in nature, YOU get to be refreshed.

I was looking for the best way to describe forgiveness; this as with all things has its time. Forgiveness is similar to what, Our Creator, does when it rains so very hard. After a hard rain, God’s Rays of Light beam down upon the water; the earth opens up just enough to allow the rain to soak within its ground. When the rain is soaked within the earth; it replenishes the earth and all of God’s creation.

This is true forgiveness; when we forgive and allow that act to show the world that with forgiveness; comes love. As I said before, perhaps we should change the dynamics of the relationship; but do not allow it to take away your humanity.

We all make mistakes, it is the one guarantee that we have, in this life. I hope that we are not all judged by that single act, but we must use common sense when determining how we should relate to that person. Giving forgiveness could change the path of the recipient. Perhaps, the only reason they were brought into our lives; is so we could shine God’s light on them. We must just be aware that not everyone is supposed to be a part of our every day life, forever.

In closing, I would only ask this of you. Let go of grudges, burdens, anger and resentment. Hanging on to such hostility, will only hold YOU back. These feeling or emotions will keep you off of your path. Do people deserve your forgiveness? I think that they are no more deserving than we are, when we seek forgiveness. But when deciding what is or is not forgivable I ask you one thing…use the same love and understanding that you would want to see, from Our Creator.

Love breeds love. Leave your heart open to the ability to see; for forgiveness is not about THEM…but about you and me.

Tear Drop

Tear Drop

Everything must become

What it is now supposed to be

Like taking the caged bird

Finally setting it free

It is often hard to let it go

Used to seeing it every day

But even the beautiful bird

Has its own path…its own way

Even if it causes us sorrow

Even if gives us great pain

Everything must become what it is

Not about personal gain

Relationships will alter

Something yet to be known

One day we will all look back

At how we have finally grown

A tear will begin to finally dry

A broken heart will make it through

Even if we thought they wouldn’t

We have love yet to bloom

We have inside every heart

The seed of uncultivated grace

With evolution we learn to spread

It among the human race

We fear what we do not understand

But our understanding should be clear

When holding on to the wings of love

We have never had anything to fear

You are not different than me

Even we look nothing alike

For we were created from the same

Beautiful image…amazing light

The difference we think we have

Were created by man made hate

It has nothing do to with who we are

Look at the negative things we create

We teach our children to be indifferent

We show them by our actions

No wonder they are so violent

Always seeking material satisfaction

Like teaching someone to be a lion

And expecting them to be like a deer

Why do we cause such confusion

What is really happening here

We say one thing daily

While choosing to do another

Saying be kind to our neighbors

While killing our sisters and brothers

And we wonder why our children

Are confused about their place

We have bred hate and indifference

In a most precious place

We are responsible…forever

We distribute evil of the mind

While forgetting our true course

We destroy all of mankind

The victor is who is left standing…REALLY?

Who ever told us that lie

Putting man against man

Only the strong will survive?

Strength of the body is not real

In fact, it is not even here

Or else why would talk to the dead

When their body is nowhere near

It is only the heart and soul

Which matters in this place

Even when you feel the light of a smile

It’s through our Creators Grace

Let go of the inconsistencies’

Hold on only to this one last thing

It is not what others do for you

But the love that you, yourself bring

So point not your finger in anger

Instead acknowledge beauty all around

Teach your children of your mistakes

And the love you have found

For love will make you complete

It will mend bridges…tear down walls

Please make a change now

Before another tear drop falls

We Try

We Try

The girl dropped to her knees

Like she had most every day

Father I have a question

Wanted to ask it in this way

Wouldn’t it just be easier

Given you know our true path

If you just told us what to do

So we wouldn’t fail in our task

One quiet whisper of a breeze

Softly spoke into her ear

On this one instance…one time

I will tell you this my dear

I’ve given you all the tools you need

To figure things in life out

But I will tell you the true path

So you will know without doubt

You are all destined for greatness

The only fork in the road

Comes up when you want to

Reap more than you have sown

You are supposed to be kind to others

As you would have them be to you

You would love your fellow man

Only a few things you should do

Look over my sweet children

They are tender in their heart

Stop using your anger to violate

And tear their worlds apart

Don’t over look the homeless

They are there for a reason

Don’t just acknowledge their presence

During holiday season

Whether homeless or not

Their lives…they matter too

Remember it is not what you say

It is what you do

Have you ever conversed

With someone in the park

Wondered where they will sleep

When everything gets dark

Can you imagine a park bench

Not a comfy bed

Or do you push it out of your mind

To brighter thoughts instead

These are the things I watch

Over you for

Are you opening your hearts

Or slamming shut doors

What could you do better you ask

I’ll tell you again now

Every day when you awake

Make it better somehow

Be thankful for your first breath

Stop living a life in greed

Think of self with your mind

It’s your heart others need

Stop the cycle of violence

It must come to an end

Stop racking up enemies

Who could be your friends

What is your path you ask

Give love its what it’s for

And when that task is done

Give them love some more

For when you are spreading my news

Of love…hope and joy

You are delivering a message

That they cannot avoid

For through the love of God

There is no mountain they can’t climb

The forks in their road

Are all a state of mind

For I love you my child

When you do your very best

And I watch over you lovingly

Every night when you rest

It is at that moment I realized

What the whisper meant to me

An attempt to do better

Opened a worlds possibility

I don’t know if it was God

Who spoke to me that way

But I’m thankful for the love

He sent down to me that day

My prayer for humanity is simple

On this we always can rely

We may fall short sometimes

But it’s important that we try

Every Day

Every Day

I know you are struggling

Sometimes life seems so unfair

And while I don’t know what it’s like

It doesn’t mean that I don’t care

I would remove all your pain

I would dry every last tear

If it made your journey easier

Or changed what brought you here

I know when we are moving

Our focus is on the end

Never knowing…not realizing

What is around the bend

More urgent than the destination

Are those we touched along the trail

Making the lesson about courage…strength

Not how we might have failed

For failure is not an option

You took whatever hand was dealt

Pressed forward…moved onward

No matter what you felt

There is true strength in your spirit

While you may wish you were more

I tell you you’re my hero

No matter what’s in store

Our Creator has set aside

A specific need for you

Maybe in something you will say

Or something you may do

Perhaps you lend your strong will

To one tired of holding on

One who would have let go

Before the day was done

What happened was traumatic

A terrible offense

But the good you can do

Will begin to make sense

Teach others of your struggle

Tell them they are not alone

Show them by example

How very much you’ve grown

For life is sometimes not fair

Not what we thought it would be

Thought we had it planned out

As far as the eye could see

But the goals of man are in vain

God has chartered our course

No time for self pity

No room for remorse

For all is as it would be

According to our Great Lord

The cost of our ego’s

Can be more than we can afford

So while you may struggle

On your path along the way

Remember I will be here

Loving you every day

World Healing Day

World Healing Day

Help me heal the world

One soul at a time

It really is so simple

I can even make it rhyme

Give love every day

It’s a bandage on our hearts

We are stronger when joined

Than when we are apart

Rinse clean our souls

Make everything brand new

Gently touch the lives of men

In everything you do

Start healing from within

Release all of the hate

We can start doing better today

It is not too late

Heal your next door neighbor

By simply changing your tone

It’s a slow progression

To the greatest love we’ve ever known

Heal by now stopping

With evil we always lose

Stepping on the broken

By all forms of abuse

We strike out in anger

To God’s angels in our path

As if they are responsible

For the massive ego wrath

Heal my friends I beg you

Make today a fresh new one

Where we make amends

For all the damage we have done

Shine God’s light daily

Use your beautiful smile

Give someone the hope

They haven’t seen in a while

Heal our Lord’s world

Pay homage to our King

By spreading His eternal love

And the hope that can bring

Heal our world today

Remember who you are

Bring kindness to each other

No matter near or far

All change takes time

Baby steps are a beginning

For if we keep up this pace

We should fear the ending

I wish you the very best

On World Healing Day

If we base it on God’s love

He will pave our way
