I am Waging War

I am Waging War

I am waging war

I am putting down my mark

Against private wars against women

Which leave scars upon our hearts

A female journalist said

Don’t drink you won’t be raped

She even believing the lies

Leading to gender hate

A politician was quoted

Not saying it was her fault but…

Please Mister Government

That really is enough

We have allowed women

And their body parts to be used

As insults for our sons

Another form of abuse

You hit like a girl men yell

An insult for a boy

See we teach hate young

Leaving both sexes feeling a void

IF we teach our wonderful sons

That a female is a curse

Is it any wonder his opinion

Of women is the worst?

We are not only breeding hatred

Within our sons who are so young

But our daughters hate themselves

MY GOD…what have we done?

She feels she is unworthy

Maybe the assault was my fault

Please forgive us FATHER

This behavior has to stop

Remember the sluts that you talk of

Some ones daughter…someone’s mother

Of the sins we bathe in

When we fail to love one another

Please before it goes further

Weigh your words…they can be deadly

The time for forgiveness is now

Don’t you think the world is ready?

Ready to stand up for its sisters

Ready to speak out on her beauty

Yes…upward and onward

It’s our job…no OUR DUTY

Yes, I am waging war

I will no longer be idle

And you can call me one name

QUEEN is my title

So if you feel you have the urge

To spout negativity from afar

Go ahead I am ready…

I am waging war

Walk Together

Walk Together
Not sure when it started
Or who said it first
That woman is less
Words intended to hurt
Even worse than the intention
Than that statement tries to do
Is the fact that at some point
We started believing it too
Less than a man…
Half of his mind
We made less than a contribution
To the rise of mankind
Getting paid less than half
Of the same employers wage
Not good enough to be viewed the same
But let’s turn a page
Only the strength of a woman
Regardless of the sentiment of her worth
Is powerful enough to endure
The pressure of birth
And if we are so much weaker
Than our male counter parts
Why does he look for us to hold him up
Like his mother from the start
When he needs a shoulder
To make him feel whole
Why does he seek a wife
Or some female role
We were created to be caring
Made to be strong
And the myth of our weakness
Has gone on too long
So stop comparing my deeds
With what you may call power
Realize the same pain of a thorn
Reveals a beautiful flower
Learn to uphold all women
As God would have it be
And find the boldness of a mountain
The depth of the sea
And one day you will realize
The time that you wasted
On comparing your value
With what God also created
Smile now my brother
We do not want war
Just for you to remember
What we were brought here for
Let’s walk together
And hold each others hand
You will never need to know my lion
When I can be your lamb

A Real Man

I wage no war against you

You are no enemy of mine

I only ask to be treated fairly

And the words you choose are kind

There is no need for a comparison

For our bodies are unique

I ask only of your respect

When you pass me on the street

Life can become difficult

When we create boundaries undue

I understand your struggle

And what you are going through

Hold back your anger

Bite your negative tongue

Lets put an end to animosity

That has gone on too long

I am not your enemy, in fact

God created me for you

But when you react with hate

In what you say and do

I will defend my honor

Of that you can depend

But I would rather be loving

At the very least be a friend

Let me help guide you on your path

God will lead the way

To a life of everlasting joy

And when together we do pray

You will feel divine energy

This will make our way clear

And it will become obvious

That our God is always near

So make me not a rival

Or a bitter angry foe

But a woman you respect

And are privileged to know

For I have the unsung spirit

Of my sisters before my time

And I will wear that badge gladly

The pleasure is all mine

For prior to there being a famous

Or upstanding man

There was a mother before him

Holding his tender hand

See I do not need your glory

And I don’t even seek your fame

But when we are talking of me

Remember to use my name

I am a woman always

And must be treated us such

Not a plaything you toy with

Or something for you to touch

I am not for you to stare at

And make judgments that are crude

There is no need for name calling

Or simply being rude

So when you think of demeaning

The very heart of who I am

Remember God loves me

And is by me where I stand

There is no need to discredit me

Or demean my body too

To make yourself feel better

About the weaknesses within you

So when you are staring and

Judging women within your view

Remember she’s someone’s daughter

And she has feelings too

Stand up and rise

Defend her honor if you can

Show the world what its like

To be a real man

Lost Humanity

Lost Humanity

A life filled with sunshine

Chocolate coated dream

A world filled with love

And all that it brings

Too much to ask

Too much to hope

While humanity dangles

At the end of a rope

We allow children to starve

While worshipping in Buildings of Gold

We can’t afford to help that child

And other stories we are told

We can’t afford the luxury

Of slowly growing cold

No matter the excuses

Or lies that grow bold

Extend your heart strings

Think less of self

Leave our ego behind

Negativity on a shelf

Reach out to others

Give them God’s Grace

There is no room for hatred

In this divine resting space

For this is just a test

The real judgment hasn’t begun

Live a life free of anger

We’ve wars yet to be won

Smile for no reason

Give cause for no infraction

Allow warm embraces to be

The only reaction

As I lend you my heart

To use as you may

Do not put off til tomorrow

What can now be saved

Humanity is lost…sadly

But I have great news

The tragedies we have seen

People battered and abused

Can be stepping stones

A bridge to salvation

Living a Spirit filled life

Intended from Creation

Here is my contribution

To you and for yours

A simple “I Love You”

Can open locked doors

So pass this along

In a life filled with insanity

A simple I Love You to all

Can rebuild lost humanity

To My Children

To My Children

Be careful who you speak to

And where you do go

Don’t drink too much

Double check your clothes

Guard your reputation

People may think less of you

You have to think ahead

No matter what you do

We teach this to our daughters

Making sure to instill caution

A long listing of things

Causing mental exhaustion

We have to protect her

When all is said and done

Understandable but…

What about our sons

Do not disrespect women

Because it must be so

No matter what anyone says

NO MEANS NO

Be a great man

It’s your victory call

Lift no hand in anger

Respect women…all

You may be frustrated

You may feel sinister

But would you allow another

To hurt your sister

Let’s call for annihilation

Of two different rules

We all have minds and hearts

Let’s use these tools

To my children I beg you

Always be prepared

Some actions are so vile

Lives can’t be repaired

**Jane Doe….I hear you**

NO

NO

My body does not give permission

Nor allow it to be so

No matter what we are told now

NO MEANS NO

My body is my own

I have no regard for those who

Say I didn’t fight enough

So I must have wanted to

Rape is not a dime store toy

It’s a cruelty beyond words

And anyone who says else

Is simply absurd

I didn’t really fight enough?

My body…mind needs to shut down

Wonder if such statements would be made

If YOUR life was turned upside down

Do you understand the torment

Do you understand the fear

After living with a rape

The last thing we need to hear

If she asked for it

Or she didn’t hit hard enough

She isn’t a victim

Maybe she likes it rough

If it seems I am being unkind

Or if my heart is being twisted

I will tell you I know a God

Who said…no…insisted

I be treated with respect

I am deemed as a Queen

Protected by a Creator

Who understands what I mean

When I say this one more time

NO matter who tells you so

In the instance of RAPE

No means NO

**My poem today is in response to a Superior Court Justice’s remarks about a rape case**

To my readers…rape is a horrendous crime…not to be taken lightly. It takes so much courage to come forth and report this crime…PLEASE do not victimize her twice

I wish you all Peace

YOUR PATH IS WAITING FOR YOU

Let’s take further examination
Of this gender assault
Why when it comes to rape
Why do we assume it is her fault

Some will say I’m wrong
To make such a claim
But if you saw through my eyes
You would say the same

We live in a society of people
Where the “B” word is glammed
Saying this is what you are
But it’s not who I am

Music and movies
Throw the term up in lights
But I’m up today saying
It is NOT alright

We make it cool to demean women
Saying it is only just a word
But the ignorance of that statement
Is just simply absurd

Okay so back to my topic
Yes…rape is a crime
So why must SHE stand on trial
Every single time

Why is her behavior attacked
Why is her clothing critiqued
Why do we claim that the man
Is a victim…he is weak

Why is she criticized for bathing
Scrubbing him off of her skin
What…not enough bruising?
You should examine from within

For this child of God
The “B” word to some
Just went out for a drink
Just to have some fun

So why wasn’t he asked a question
What were you doing out so late
Who gave you permission
To force sex on a date

Why not ask him why he showered
After making this intrusion
The idea of REAL justice
Just another man made illusion

How do I know that it’s so
How can I be certain of this
Let’s just say I don’t need to assume
Because I know how it is

Not only is her body degraded once
But will be once again
When she is put under a microscope
By family and friends

And don’t forget a court system
Which claims to seek the truth
But it isn’t what you know
Only…what you can prove

I”m back to the “B” word again
I just can’t bring myself to repeat
The vile words used for women
By almost eveyone we meet

But the relationship is obvious
But I don’t mind shining some light
When we make demeaning women okay
We are saying rape is alright

No, you don’t agree?
I can see you are alarmed
You don’t find the word as evil
As sexual acts which cause harm?

If that is the case
You just made my job simple
To attack my name is as wrong
As assaulting my body…a temple

Am I making too much bother
About something you would not do?
Be aware my good brother
The world is watching you

You may not call her a name
Or sexually invade her space
But there are women you know
That could take her place

Do you care now?
Does it bother you more?
To think about your daughter…mother
Or the sweet girl next door

When we allow our fellow man
To make excuses for such acts
We submissively saying …okay
I have no problem with that

So I am asking you to be real
When “The Boys” are hanging around
Be the example that they need
Not just a face in a crowd

For when we allow this to happen
Foul acts and fouler names
We create a cycle of bitterness
Where the scars always remain

Be the voice of a Creator
Which screams NO MORE
Become the  watcher of HIS sheep
What you were created for

Think twice about your words
And those of others too
Stand up…be strong
Your path is waiting for you

What God Brings Together

What God Brings Together

Tell her that you love her
But only if you do
The sweet words are like music
But only if they are true

Remind her how she makes your heart
Beat faster when she walks by
It is important to tell her
But not if it is a lie

Treat her like you wish
Life had treated you
When you were lied to
And left feeling blue

You will find the blessings
You have had in your mind
But first you must leave
That other guy behind

You know the one who has broken
So very many tender hearts
The one who caused pain
You knew he would from the start

He counted women as numbers
Not as an angelic voice
He thought only about him
As if he had no other choice

Become the man that
God molded you to be
Not the trapped animal
Who needs to be freed

Forget everything that you
Thought that you knew
And love without restriction
Become the real you

Remember that the love of God
Is always on your side
Choose between the man and the boy
Its time to decide

Don’t shower her with gifts
To win her favor
She is someone’s daughter
She is someone’s neighbor

Someone loves her
Every single day
She is not a token
On a game that you play

Show her your heart
By giving her your respect
And you will get so much more
Than you’ve come to expect

And even if the meeting
Leaves you friendly but not at odds
Speak of one another kindly
As you are children of God

No moment in the light of God
Is one made in haste
Love each other divinely
You have no time to waste

Use your gentle words
Then touch her tender heart
And what God bringeth together
May no one tear apart

~~ From my heart to yours
